Medigap Plan N
Plan N is a type of Medicare Supplement insurance policy that helps cover some of the out-of-pocket costs that Original Medicare do not cover. Like all Supplemental plans, Plan N is standardized by the federal government, meaning that all Medigap Plan N policies must offer the same basic benefits, regardless of the state or insurance carrier.

Plan N Coverage
One of the main benefits of Medigap Plan N is that it covers a good range of out-of-pocket costs not covered by Original Medicare, such as:
- Part A hospital coinsurance and up to an additional 365 days of hospital coverage
- Part B coinsurance or copayment
- The first three pints of blood each year
- Part A hospice care coinsurance
- Part A hospital deductible
- Part B excess charges
It’s important to note that Medigap Plan N does not cover some benefits that are covered by other plans like foreign travel emergency care, preventive care or copayments for some office visits. Additionally, with this plan, there is a $20 copayment for doctor visits and a $50 copayment for emergency room visits.
This plan is a good choice for those who want more coverage than what’s offered in Plan K, but with a lower premium. Keep in mind that Medigap Plan N is not the right choice for everyone, and it’s important to consult with a Medicare expert before making a decision.
