Medigap Plan L
Plan L is designed for those looking for more coverage and are willing to pay a little more for additional coverage. The costs for Medigap Plan L vary depending on location and insurance company, but generally, it tends to be lower than more comprehensive plans such as Plan F or G.

Plan L Coverage
Medigap Plan L is a type of Medicare Supplement insurance that helps pay some of the out-of-pocket costs left by Original Medicare. Like all Medigap plans, Plan L is standardized by the government, meaning that all Medigap Plan L policies must offer the same basic benefits, regardless of the insurer.
Plan L covers:
- Part A hospital coinsurance and up to an additional 365 days of hospital coverage
- Part B coinsurance or copayment
- The first three pints of blood
- Part A hospice care coinsurance
- Skilled nursing facility care coinsurance
- 75% of the Part A hospital deductible
- 75% of the Part B excess charges
It’s important to note that Medigap Plan L does not cover some benefits that are covered by other plans like foreign travel emergency care or preventive care.
This plan is a good choice for those who want more coverage than what’s offered in Plan K and are willing to pay a little more for additional coverage. Keep in mind that Medigap Plan L is not the right choice for everyone, and it’s important to consult with a Medicare expert before making a decision.
